Winter Wonderland

Our last family pictures were done in Guam and that really wasn't all that long ago. But for us, the last year has made quite a difference and we definately needed new pictures. I am so happy about this too. I was lucky enough to get my tropical family pictures then...and to come to Alaska now, you'd better believe that I wanted those Winter Wonderland type family pictures. Our photo shoot was very successful considering the temperature and having 3 kids now. Who knew that 3rd child would make such a difference??? Let me tell you, when there are 3 and you are standing in a foot of snow, one of them has to end up walking. Weston, you are a trooper!! It was a warmer day (+15*) but we still were cold. (Mostly because I am a dork and wanted us to somewhat be coordinanted in our outfits and that doesn't work so well when we are all in our snow gear. So, we all have 3 or 4 shirts on and were braving the cold that way.) In between different shots we all jumped (litterally) into Karla's car and warmed up for the next series of pictures. That seemed to work out ok until we ran out of light. All in all, I am glad that they are done and over with, and I am glad that they are done in time for Christmas cards!!

Beautiful Trees

I know the ice frosted tree is random, but I think that trees like this one are just so beautiful. We have a couple of trees just like this in our front yard and I am very grateful for that. In the dead of winter these trees help me to face the out doors a little better. Weird, I know. They are just sooo pretty to me.

The boys got to decorate our beautiful Christmas tree yesterday. They had so much fun and now it definately feels like it is the season. I love this time of year!!!

The Haircut

Weston came to me the other day begging, "Mommy PLEASE! Please can I give Kaiden a haircut. I will do my best..." "Uh...NO. Only grown ups can cut hair, not kids. And besides, I just gave both of you hair cuts 2 days ago." "Mo-om...I can do it. I am VERY good. I will only use my missle from my transformer and not scissors because I can cut him." Confused I ask him, "Missle? What?" Then he responds in one of those "duh" sort of attitudes, "If I just blow up his hair then it will be all gone and that is a GOOD hair cut!" (Like my hair cut wasn't good enough) "No Weston, I don't care if it is a toy or not, we DO NOT pretend to blow up our brothers hair or head or anything else!" Defeated he asks, "Then can I just use my missles to do a pretend haircut?" "No scissors?" I ask. "No." "No blowing up your brother?" "No, mom." "Alright, but make sure Kaiden says it's OK." He gives me a big smile and says, "Kaiden said I could blow his head up."

Picasso

I do not claim to be an "Art Expert", but I think my 5 year olds drawings are so comparable to some seriously famous artists? Not that Picasso would paint trucks or pirate ships, but still....where do I go to find an agent???? J/K. But I do wonder what the fascination with that type of art is. Again, I am not an artist like the rest of my talented family.....looks like Weston might have some of that talent too!!!! YEA!!!!

Breaking the Bread

So, it was one of those days where they wouldn't eat their lunch and then they wanted a snack. I don't like those days and usually I am not very nice, but for some reason this day I decided to be "kind". So kind, that I offered them a slice of bread each...wow, I know! Well, I came back into the dining room a couple minutes later to find that they had "broken their bread" and were pretending to bless the sacrament. It was all to sweet.
